Tungsten speciality parts.
Tungsten ballast and counterweights, mesh heaters and trays, supplied to your drawing and specification from Vadodara, India.
Far denser than lead or steel.
Pure tungsten has a density of about 19.25 g/cm³, roughly 70% denser than lead and about 2.5 times denser than steel. The same weight takes up much less space, and tungsten is a lead-free option where lead is restricted.
Tungsten ballast, counterweights, heaters and trays.
We supply tungsten ballast (also called counterweights or balancing weights), tungsten mesh heaters and tungsten trays, made to your drawing. Tungsten ballast here means dense metal weights, not the electrical ballast used in lamps. Send the drawing, dimensions, weight and quantity for a quotation.

Along with tungsten parts we supply niobium crucibles, made to your size and drawing. Niobium is a refractory metal with a very high melting point, used for crucibles and high-temperature vessels. Send the capacity or dimensions, wall thickness and quantity for a quotation.

| Material | Tungsten content | Density (g/cm³) | Max hardness (HRC) |
|---|---|---|---|
| Pure tungsten | about 100% | 19.25 | n/a |
| Heavy alloy, Class 1 | 90% | 16.85 to 17.25 | 32 |
| Heavy alloy, Class 2 | 92.5% | 17.15 to 17.85 | 33 |
| Heavy alloy, Class 3 | 95% | 17.75 to 18.35 | 34 |
| Heavy alloy, Class 4 | 97% | 18.25 to 18.85 | 35 |
Tungsten heavy alloy (tungsten with a nickel-iron or nickel-copper binder) is commonly specified to ASTM B777. Typical published values, not a guarantee for a specific lot. The grade, form and certificate are confirmed in your quotation.
Where tungsten makes sense.
- Counterweights and balancing weights with less volume.
- Ballast where there is little room to add mass.
- Lead-free option where lead is restricted or undesirable.
What to send us.
- Drawing or dimensions
- Target weight and tolerances
- Alloy or density preference, if any

Tungsten ballast, answered.
Why use tungsten ballast instead of lead?
Tungsten is far denser than lead, so the same weight takes up much less space. It is also a lead-free option where lead is restricted. For a fixed weight, a tungsten part can be about 40% smaller in volume than a lead part.
How dense is tungsten?
Pure tungsten has a density of about 19.25 g/cm³. Tungsten heavy alloys are typically around 17 to 18.5 g/cm³. For comparison, structural steel is about 7.85 g/cm³ and lead about 11.34 g/cm³.
What is tungsten ballast used for?
Typical uses are counterweights, balancing weights and ballast where space is limited and a high mass is needed in a small volume.
Is tungsten ballast the same as lamp ballast?
No. Tungsten ballast here means dense metal weights used for balance and counterweight. It is not the electrical ballast used in fluorescent or discharge lamps.
Do you supply niobium crucibles?
Yes. We supply niobium crucibles made to your size and drawing. Send the capacity or dimensions, wall thickness and quantity and we will quote.
Do you supply tungsten heaters and trays?
Yes. Besides ballast and counterweights we supply tungsten mesh heaters and trays, made to your drawing. Send the drawing, dimensions and quantity.
What is the difference between tungsten ballast, counterweights and balancing weights?
The names are used for the same kind of part: a dense tungsten or tungsten heavy alloy weight that adds mass in a small space. Send the weight, shape and tolerance you need and we will quote.
What do you need to quote tungsten ballast?
The drawing or dimensions, the target weight, tolerances, any alloy or density preference, the quantity, and the finish or coating you need.
